This place is SO authentic and definitely the highest standard of Italian food you can get in Chelmsford. The food is proper Italian pasta and is cooked to such a high standard. “ I was in Chelmsford to watch a T20 Vitality Blast cricket game, I checked into this popular Italian bistro right at the start of service. The chef-patron, 43 year old Neapolitan, Andrea Vasto, is clearly a hands-on type of guy, because he was busy sprucing the place up as I arrived. So, I was whisked straight upstairs to a very attractive set-up, food ordered, nose powdered in the single classy loo and luncheon served! I had whatever the Italian is for lemon chicken and fries. Jolly tasty too, nice, succulent chicken breast and VERY lemony indeed. Nice fries too. Stupidly, I didn't take a copy of the bill, but, from memory, it was around a very reasonable 16. Done and dusted in a little over 30 minutes. Perfect pre-cricket fare. ”

He’s always so friendly and welcoming, and the service is consistently fantastic. There’s a real warmth to the place that makes you feel right at home. My partner is Italian, and he always says how much the food reminds him of being with his family – proper home-cooked Italian dishes just like you’d find around a family table in Italy. That, to me, says everything about the quality and authenticity of what Andrea creates. I can thoroughly recommend the *Melanzane Parmigiana* – it’s my personal favourite, and an absolute must-try. Comforting, rich and packed with flavour, it’s Italian comfort food at its finest. If you’ve not been to Amalfi yet, you’re missing out on a real gem. Highly recommended. ”

Our waitress was also very friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. The food arrived quickly, and everything was fresh and full of flavour. The dishes stayed true to authentic Italian recipes, which I really appreciated. You could tell a lot of care went into the preparation. The atmosphere was lovely—upstairs was especially peaceful and spotless, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. And I have to mention the dessert: the pistachio tiramisu was unbelievably fresh and delicious. I’d go back just for that! ”
